What is Equine Assisted Learning?
To put it simply, Equine Assisted Learning is a learner based educational experience with horses. More specifically, it is an effective approach to human development that encourages individual and team growth. Participants engage in objectively driven exercises and find
themselves learning valuable life skills in a fun and exciting atmosphere while working with horses. Equine Assisted Learning has proven to be effective, powerful, positive,
educational, and creative. The Academy of Equine Assisted Learning’s program emphasizes it’s curriculum of objectively driven exercises and facilitating life skills through positively reinforced interaction with horses. Exercises are developed to encourage self-esteem and self-confidence through validated, hands-on experiences. Current research has found this experiential form of learning to be most effective as the person learning will retain the newly acquired skill.
Why Horses?
Horses are tough and stead fast dance partners. Horses consistently react to stimulus provided by participants. Some of the joys associated with working around horses are – they don’t judge but they constantly assess. Their feedback is honest and instant. Learning to listen to what horses have to say is powerful and can sometimes spur the answer to individual change. By including horses in specially designed educational exercises, equine-assisted facilitators have greatly multiplied the participant’s rate of success to self discovery.
How?
Horses respond and react from the stimulus of the people they are working with and address the problem immediately. A skilled and certified facilitator has the opportunity to step-in and help identify what needs to happen to move forward. Horses don’t over think a participant’s motive but horses do challenge their behaviour and leadership.

YOUTH PROGRAMS
Youth programs and girl empowerment are designed to teach our youth life skills they need to function and grow personally. The horses are their teachers and there are very "teachable moments" that youth will not forget. These "teachable moments" will provide our youth with experiences that they can rely on when they make every day choices. Youth development is an objective driven and will run 8 or 12 weeks so that the course is effective and each youths advancement can be noted.
WOMENS PROGRAMS
These programs help women develop life skills in order to move forward in life confidently. This program is designed to help women rebuild who are suffering from abuse, depression, anxiety and traumas. This program builds on a different objective each week of the 12 week series and carries through the learned skills each and every week. This is experiential learning that builds strong skills for everyday life. Some of the objectives learned are how to develop strong relationships. How to find the leader within themselves, how to overcome barriers and how to move forwards not backwards.mj
TEAM BUILDING / CORPORATE PROGRAMS
This program involves team building, leadership development or just a special event for your business where you still learn! Team building programs allow employees to complete objective driven exercises to enhance communication, build trust and effectively work together. Team exercises are designed for the team to come together to solve and work towards positive results... Oh yeah- the horse is apart of the team! Leadership development helps leaders manage their team, develop understanding and learn to effectively communicate. Horses look for leaders they trust and respect something we can bring forward to your business. Special events can be arranged where your employees will have fun and not even realize they are learning or developing skills. It does not involve sitting in a classroom so lace up your boots!
